You are here:  HomeWhat We do Research Projects Future Projects

Our near and long term research agenda involves bold and innovative strategies which directly respond to urgent public health needs in Uganda and other developing countries. Our goal is manifold: to ratchet up the development of malaria vaccines for babies under 5 months old as part of the malaria eradication or elimination agenda; to target malaria vaccines and drugs directly to the placenta in order to confer babies with antimalarial immunity at birth and to replace current intermittent preventive treatment with sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP) during pregnancy; to develop a 30+ pathogen multiplex diagnostics fever panel for babies and infants; and to develop a biomarker for Nodding Disease Syndrome. We are looking for funding to support these bold ideas.
